It doesn’t take a lot of time to do so. In fact, having a thorough clean for your bathroom should only take you 20 minutes or so.  See below for several tips and tricks on how to clean a bathroom as effectively as possible. Be sure to consider your current bathroom cleaning happens and how they can be adjusted.

1. Attack the Tile Grout

Tile is one of the most beautiful materials to use in a bathroom. You can place it as the backsplash for your shower, on your floors, or even as the surface of your sink. However, if you don’t keep up with it, then it can quickly lose its clean looks. Not to mention that germs will spread quickly and grout will start to form in the cracks. To take care of that grout and keep your tile features looking clean, dedicate some time to scrubbing them once a week. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to use an immense amount of pressure to thoroughly clean them, just use the right solutions. Grab a bucket and power 1 gallon of water inside. Next, measure out 3/4 cup of chlorine bleach and mix it in with the water. Slide some rubber gloves on and dip your stiff brush into the solution, then scrub away! Let it sit for a bit, then wash off with water.

2. Thoroughly Clean Your Toilet

Considering what they’re used for and how often, it’s head-scratching to see how many people neglect thoroughly cleaning their toilets. Always start by taking a cup of baking soda and pouring it into the water of the bowl. As you wait for that to sit, take a Clorox wipe and wash the top and bottom of your toilet seat cover, toilet seat, and the top of the bowl. Once the baking soda has had a minute or so to sit, brush it all around the bowl and be sure to get those tough to reach spots.  Make sure that you also clean the brush that you scrub the toilet bowl with. To do so, keep the brush in the bowl and pour bleach over it. Hold it for a minute or two, then rinse with water. You can use this same cleaning process to clean your bidet. If you’ve never considered installing a bidet, you should! They’re easy to maintain and are actually more sanitary than toilet paper.

3. Clean Your Shower

If you’re wanting to improve the cleanliness of your bathroom, then a high priority will be to wash your shower more thoroughly and more often. To give your shower a deep clean, you’ll want to clean every aspect: the handles, the showerhead, the floor/tub, and the shower curtain/door. Even though you’ve already scrubbed the tile grout, you should still clean it with the rest of the shower. First, place scrub powder onto areas you see that have stained, have lime building up, or water residue. Let the powder sit for 15 minutes, then wipe it away. Next, spray your preferred cleaning product on the the shower’s walls, handles, and the showerhead. Let the solution rest for a few minutes before scrubbing it with a sponge and rinsing it with water.  If you have a tub, then take mixed water and bleach into a bucket (or use the same one from scrubbing the tile grout), dip a sponge in it, and scrub the entire tub with it.

4. Tend to the Floors

The bathroom floors are often the most underappreciated aspect of the restroom. You spend hours cleaning the bathroom’s utilities, but never any time on the surface everyone walks on. First, shop around for a safe surface cleaner for the material on your bathroom’s floors. Be sure to spray your floors with it, getting every corner and crevice. Let the solution sit for about 10 minutes. Open up a window or two to control the scent. After the solution has had time to sit, use your preferred mop to scrub at it. If there are spots that are especially tough to reach, then scrub them with a microfiber cloth.

5. Remove All Towels and Wash Them

Many people use the same shower towel for several consecutive weeks. The hand towels above your sink take even longer to replace. This can quickly lead to a massive spread of germs in your home. Instead, wash all of your bathroom towels on the same schedule. Wash your bathroom once a week. When you do, make a point to grab the towels and throw them in the laundry before you start cleaning. Throw them in the washer as you usually would, but let them all air dry. While you’re washing your towels, don’t forget to clean the towel racks with a cleaning solution. If you don’t already, you might consider purchasing a second set of hand towels and shower towels so that you can rotate them each week.
